Backpacks are designed to enhance your worship services through media that compliments the mood of your song selection. As you reach the bridge of your worship song, you may decide to transition into the matching slow loop. As the song progresses, you can transition into a faster loop for instrumentals or high energy choruses.

All 3 work together to help you paint the mood of your worship set! The result will feel similar to an Igniter Track or EasySlide only this time there are no lyrics which allows you to use this product behind any number of worship songs.

Plastic Jesus wins an award

Written by Rob Thomas

Collide Magazine (our sister company) had it’s 3rd annual ‘Reader’s Choice Awards’ Issue.  In it, the readers of Collide vote on their favorites in all categories media related.

This year, our video, Plastic Jesus, took home the “Best Church Media Short Film’ award.  We are extremely proud of this video and the work that our whole team put in it.  We even got the acting talents of our friend, Kent McKeaigg, former WorshipHouse Media director.

Collide does a very good job of being impartial to any of the producers, but being sister companies probably has it’s effect.  From an Igniter stand-point, we didn’t promote the ‘Reader’s Choice’ survey, but still have a small percentage of shared audience.  For that reason, we are always great when we DON’T win.. which is usually the case.  I think this is the first award we’ve won from COLLIDE.  Anyway, it’s cool that people responded to ‘Plastic Jesus’.

Here’s a link to the video:

Celebrating our January birthdays

Written by Rob Thomas

Trent Armstrong, Bart Damer, Marc Matthews... all holding a cupcake.

Happy Birthday to our January birthdays.  We celebrated our January birthdays by gathering for 20-25 minutes and ate Sprinkle’s Cupcakes.  So delicious. We love these three guys.  They add a ton to our team and I am so glad I get to work with them.

Two days at Dunn Bros Coffee

Written by Rob Thomas
We spent two full work days hanging out at Dunn Bros Coffee for some major company planning meetings.  We focused on all the divisions of RT Creative Group.  We spent about 5-6 hours talking through Igniter Media stuff, most of it yesterday afternoon.  I am so fortunate to work with an amazing team of people.  We are very excited about 2010 and a lot of the new stuff coming out.  Here are some pictures:

Scott and Ryan like to match shirt colors... a lot! Lot's of text messaging back and forth when they are getting ready in the morning.

Jeff is listening well in this picture. He's the only one listening well in this picture.

Igniter's new production scheduler. Time to get organized.

David couldn't be more excited if we paid him... wait.. we do.

Our Partnership with Seeds Family Worship

Written by Jeff Parker

One of the things we like to do is find ways to partner with other companies/ministries to create media that visually communicates Truth. After hearing the music of Seeds Family Worship (you can check out their website here), it didn’t take long before we knew we had to partner with them. Technically, it was Haley Thomas (Rob’s wife) who first told us about Seeds, so she gets full credit for our introduction to their music.

If you are not familiar with Seeds’ music, let me give you a quick summary. The founders, Jason Houser and Michael Martin, had a dream of helping create music that would help families spend time together in the Word. So they set out (with the help of many others) to write music that is 100% Scripture. If you want to know where they get the lyrics for their music, just open your NIV Bible. From there, they hope their well-produced music allows families to memorize and discuss Scripture together.

Seeds’ music is sometimes lumped in with the Children’s music genre. But this is a poor classification. Because, as a company, we soon found ourselves singing and shouting along with the music, not typically what we would do with other Children’s music. So we knew we had to meet them.

From a lunch with Jason, Heather Easterday, and Clark Hook, launched the idea for Seeds Worship Tracks. Seeds had great music for families. We had a formula with Igniter Tracks and EasySlides. And thus we combined the two together to create our first product, Seeds Worship Tracks: Encouragement, which will be available later today.

We hope this new product helps provide Children’s and Family gatherings with some much needed media resources. Also, coming soon, there will be a home version of the tracks paired with some simple curriculum that will allow families something to watch and discuss together.

We hope you enjoy this new product and look forward to hearing your feedback. Please help us get the word out about our new resource!

New addition to the team: Marc Matthews!

Written by Rob Thomas

We are very excited to add Marc Matthews to our team.  I’ve now known Marc for around two years and for most of that time, thought he would be a great guy to join us at Igniter Media.  We finally got him!  He’s going to be doing a ton with RT Creative Group which is the parent company of Igniter Media.  Marc is good with numbers, data, management, and tons more.  Right now, he’s sharing an office with Jeff Parker… finally Jeff gets some help in the financial world of our company.  He hasn’t had much help since I did Quickbooks while he was in Europe for a month (the year: 2005).  Since I didn’t write but 3 checks that month, even then he didn’t get much help.

Marc has a beautiful family and lives in the Lake Highlands area (Dallas).  Trisha and he have a one year old daughter, Mia… she is a cutey.  They also have a dog named Major who eats through ziplock bags when he stays at our house.  He’s a great dog though.

Please welcome Marc!

2009 in Rewind

Written by Rob Thomas

2009 was a great year for Igniter Media and we are so thankful to be able to continue to do what we love.  This was our 6th year as a company and let’s take a look back:

- We hired the amazing David Womack and fabulous Ashton Lloyd

- We released several new products
1. Igniter Backs 05
2. Igniter Videos 07
3. Igniter Videos 08
4. Igniter Tracks 03
5. Easter v.3
6. Back Packs 01: Fall Loops
7. Christmas v.4
8. Several miscellaneous films, tracks, etc.

- 99 Balloons and The Marshmallow Test got exposure on national television (ie. NBC The Today Show)

- Highlighted ‘Potty Talk‘ as being ‘perfect’ for Mother’s Day.  (not our best marketing)

- Avoided HR-related lawsuits for the sixth consecutive year.

It’s been a great year for sure.  We have a lot coming in 2010 that we are excited to talk about.  The new Igniter website is coming and we are creating our first curriculum set for churches.  Can’t wait to tell you more about those things.

For now, we hope you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for letting us serve you and your church this year.  It’s a huge blessing for us.

New Johnny & Chachi video! Lots of holiday cheer!

Written by Rob Thomas

Johnny and Chachi are back with a new video.  This time, they attempt to sing 25 songs in under 2 minutes.  Why? Well, to honor the day we celebrate the birth of Christ.  They do a great job…until the end.

How to use this: We recommend using this at the start of a Christmas service.  You can also use this video to promote your Christmas service by playing it a week earlier.
